Company mission

To make sure competition works for the benefit of people, businesses, and the UK economy.

Our take

The Competition and Markets Authority is the UK's main competition regulator that promotes competitive markets and launches investigations across all sectors of the economy to put a stop to anti-competitive activities.

Also known as the CMA, the organisation is responsible for making sure competition works for UK consumers, businesses and the economy. This involves reporting on the state of competition in certain sectors, such as the vet sector or housebuilding market, as well as reviewing specific mergers to check they comply with competition law.

All in all, the CMA plays a vital role in UK competition regulation, doing a valuable job for consumers and businesses alike - and it will no doubt continue to do so into the future.
