Malvertising is a growing threat, where apps and services are hijacked by malware which causes them to spam their users with unwanted adverts. These can lead to unsafe or counterfeit products or scam sites, or can display fake news and political disinformation, and at a minimum disrupts the security and usability of a service or product. Confiant, a cybersecurity and ad-tech firm based in New York, aims to counter this category of threat with its ad security platform.
Founded in 2013, Confiant isn't new player in this space, and over the years it has built a market leading position. This is thanks to the speed of its threat detection (operating almost in real time) and its comprehensive network of integrations into the internet’s ad tech infrastructure, allowing it to effectively manage the threat of hijacking. This has grown it a customer base of thousands of brands including numerous enterprises such as IBM, Paramount, and MSN.
Indeed, its expertise is needed now more than ever, as generative AI has made malvertising both easier and more effective, with it often being impossible for humans to tell real ads from fake. The company is moving to counter this with educational materials for ad-tech firms and by fortifying its platform capabilities. Thus preventing this rising tide from further damaging trust in brands and institutions while protecting revenue streams for advertisers and publishers.
