Our take

Curated is a marketplace that allows shoppers to chat with experts before purchasing a product. It specializes in the sports industry and hires skiing, snowboarding, golfing, cycling, fishing and tennis experts to help shoppers find the right product for their needs.

Talking to a Curated expert is free, and shoppers only have to pay for the product they choose to purchase, though the company does suggest that shoppers add a 5% to 10% tip to thank the expert they have spoken to. In short, Curated offers a cost-friendly solution for shoppers who want advice on luxury goods, but don't have the time or desire to visit a physical or specialist store.

Curated uses AI to pair shoppers with the right experts, with shoppers able to talk to their expert via text, video chat, or through the curated website. Though it does face the challenge of converting customers who enjoy a luxury in-store experience to a digital concierge, it is certainly a compelling option for the increasing numbers of consumers choosing digital convenience for their shopping needs, and need only keep adding new products to remain so.
