Our take
To date, pretty much all crypto assets have been protected by a security key, which poses two major problems. Firstly, these can be hacked (as seen with the $600 million Ronin hack in early 2022). Secondly, asset owners can lose access to all their assets should they lose their own key. Theoretically, Dfns software takes care of both these problems in one go.
By building a secure keyless wallet infrastructure, Dfns’ crypto security SaaS allows financial institutions as well as Web3 apps to secure their assets while making the customer experience easier. It’s still early days for the company, which only launched in 2020, but the corporate banking pedigree of CEO Clarisse Hagège bodes well. So too does the fact that FinTech industry disruptors SCRYPT, Polymath, and Flowdesk are customers.
Having recently secured funding from White Star Capital, Dfns now intends to expand its headcount and tailor its keyless wallets to make them compatible with all major Decentralised Finance (DeFi) apps.
