Our take

The EdTech industry is an exciting and expanding market but perhaps unsurprisingly tech founders have typically focused on augmenting education in STEM subjects. Digital Theatre+ is a unique startup in the space helping schools, colleges and universities around the world to teach and study Theatre, Drama and English.

Digital Theatre is an arts platform that works in partnership with British theatre companies to capture live performances. Their education platform, Digital Theatre+, offers streaming of theatre products, interviews, workshops and other multimedia materials to support teaching and learning.

Live performances often lose their charm when converted from 3D to 2D. In order to counter this, multiple camera angles and high-definition technology are used by Digital Theatre, helping bring the drama and emotion of each production to a viewers screen. The company also invests into creating additional teaching and learning materials (both video and other media) to aid teachers in educating students.

The company is currently focused on moving into the B2B space as a Performing Arts and English education resource. They are now used by over 3m students in over 3000 schools, colleges and universities in over 90 countries around the world.
