Digital Theatre+

We help schools learn English and Theatre. Although it's hard to beat the live theatre experience, not everyone has access to that, and during the pandemic, we managed to help people keep up their access to theatre, ensuring that Theatre Studies and English could keep functioning. With a bigger mass of educational content, it's a doddle for our users to also compare and contrast productions and understand more of what makes great theatre.

The management is fantastic. We respond quickly to change, as we understand the needs of the business evolve and adapt to them, which is wonderful. However, there are few pitfalls to this. We get to decide the way in which we work, take time out to deal with CICD and other issues and have a lot of autonomy. We're allowed to learn from our mistakes. Sometimes we don't deliver because of this, and that's OK, but on the whole, it creates a team vibe that's both productive and nice. We deliver more work than at previous places I've worked out with half the stress! Plus the management deals really well with mental health issues and various other things where they go above and beyond what's necessary for employee wellbeing!

We frequently use new and exciting technologies and operate on the cutting edge of tech. When I joined I had Docker experience and thought kubernetes was the be all and end all, but had the chance to use AWS lambda based cloud services, which I would heartily recommend having tried them, and a migration project had us at the forefront of documentation on AWS Step Functions, which was exciting. We've used Next, Nest and Gitlab CICD as just some of the things we've encountered over time. We also have an hour in the morning for learning, which is a great occasion to try things out and see if they work, or acquire new skills. Many cool features started out as morning branches. Our pair programming and welcoming team environment also mean it's easy to spread knowledge and skills and prevent siloing!

The talent we have at DT+ is absolutely superb, so many great minds with experience in some of the biggest companies in the industry from Tech to Sales and from Customer Success to Partnerships. As a result, the relatively small teams work incredibly efficiently.

The communication from the very top regularly about any big matter which could potentially concern the whole company is transparent and frequent. Also, the company is very supportive should there be major events that could be distressing to people, offering safe spaces to talk and share.

Weekly meetings with your line manager, just to chat about your life and how things are going if there is nothing major to discuss professionally. Also, I have time set each day for personal/professional development should I wish to take it and I'm encouraged to go and do exercise during the day to improve both mood and productivity.

My work is very varied with lots of new challenges. As a manager I am also able to assign impactful and interesting stretch projects to my team members.

My manager trusts me to take decisions but is still available to ask questions and bounce ideas off. As long as you deliver against team goals, no-one will micro-manage you.

I love being part of an education company that is genuinely improving access to the arts for thousands of students around the world. You can see that everyone else in the company feels the same way.

The first hour of every day is dedicated to learning and it's carved out in your diary to make sure you have the opportunity to improve and learn. It's such a positive attitude to self-improvement and helps you to learn at our own pace.

We use all the latest tech on AWS - from Serverless ad Lambda@Edge to Fargate - and our systems are built with the future in mind. We love to try out new things and it's given us great opportunities to learn tech that other companies are only just coming into contact with.
