Dollaride's mission is to make public transit accessible to anyone, anywhere, starting with those who live in transit deserts.
Since the 1980s, dollar vans played an integral part in NYC's transportation system, providing local transportation service to over 120,000 New Yorkers every day. Moreover, over 4.5 million Americans currently live in transit deserts. Dollaride aims to solve the transportation problem faced by this market by building a solution that digitally optimizes existing "dollar van" networks and enables drivers and riders to connect and transact via smartphones.
Dollaride provides users with a safe and transparent service. It charges 2$ for every route and it allows users to see who their driver is and how close they are to their destination. The company's business model also involves offering a subscription service for businesses that plan to provide employees with access to an alternative way of transportation to and from the office.
Moreover, in terms of environmental impact, Dollaride optimizes existing informal transit and reduces overall vehicle miles traveled and associated greenhouse gas emissions, minimizing the climate impact of transportation.
