Our take

Dead stock - aka items that a store does not expect to sell - costs retailers billions of dollars a year and generates mountains of waste. When online and in-store inventory is kept separate, the amount of dead stock gets even higher, because waste is coming from two separate channels.

Dropit Shopping provides a platform to unite brick-and-mortar and digital retail across a business, reducing product waste without the need to replace existing systems. Its smart-sourcing technology integrates directly into fulfilment management systems, enabling brands to use their physical store locations to sell all available inventory. On top of this, its live inventory network maximises item availability, as well as stock visibility and mobility.

As well as reducing waste generation for landfill, Dropit’s tech also helps customers to reduce the high carbon emissions associated with last-mile delivery, by sourcing orders to locations closest to the consumer. Serving over 600 retailers across the globe, it has secured a strong foothold already. The introduction of "Smart Returns", an AI-Powered returns management solution, brings added value to its offering that should keep it at the front of the market.
