Company mission

Encore is on a mission to help artists make a living through their music.

Our take

Musicians are in many ways the ‘forgotten creator’ of the internet age. Surviving as an artist means leveraging platforms that attract and monetise fan attention. However, on Spotify there’s 75,000 tracks released a day diluting discovery, TikTok can dilute the authenticity of an artist’s output, and OnlyFans & Patreon have failed to deliver a useful product for musicians.

Encore is answering this call with a music app that delivers fan connection with ease for artists. Through their phone, artists can quickly and easily create live augmented reality concerts and other experiences which are then easily monetised through ten-cent 'claps'.

The startup has an interesting founding team featuring Kid Cudi and a former Facebook leader. The fact that they are from different walks of life and have different careers is fundamental to their company’s success. In contrast, most music-oriented apps are either founded by musicians or technology enthusiasts; Encore is a balance of both.

Ultimately, like any entertainment platform, Encore will only be as successful as its content is attractive. If Encore can encourage top artists to create exclusive and unique content on its app, audiences will flood in and so will more artists, creating a flywheel for success.
