While VR is capable of creating immersive experiences that far exceed that of traditional gaming, it is limited by its interface, which still consists of game-like controllers and awkward gestures. Out-of-home VR is the next step in VR development, allowing VR-equipped venues to create experiences that extend out of the VR realm, letting users directly interact with the environment around them to control what's happening in the virtual world.
Light Garden was founded in 2021 by a team of veteran engineers and creative professionals with experience in Deliveroo, Twitter, Facebook, Bungie and Guerilla Games among others. Dissatisfied with the existing range of tools for location-based VR, they built out the Existent Platform, a VR system that facilitates two-way communication between the real world and the metaverse by sychronising real world objects with their virtual counterparts. This has achieved a long-held goal of the VR sector : creating a sense of presence where the virtual realm feels as real as the world outside, without the use of controllers or awkward gestures.
Light Garden's platform promises to revolutionise the VR industry. Developers will be able to construct completely immersive and intuitive experiences immediately, without having to build in-house solutions or spend years and vast amounts of money on R&D. Currently in pre-seed, Light Garden is building out its core team and preparing its first public experience powered by the Existent platform. While it's still early days, it will be exciting to see how Light Garden's offering will disrupt the VR sector.
