Our take

Billions of people across the world suffer from dermatological conditions. Most of the conditions can be diagnosed and treated remotely, giving patients the relief they need. However, reaching dermatological care is currently more challenging than it needs to be, patients tend to find themselves confronted with long waiting lists and expensive treatment

Formel Skin was created to solve the challenges facing dermatologists and patients today. The healthtech startup offers a digital platform that allows doctors to provide faster diagnosis and personalised medical treatments directly to patients. Saving time and effort for patients and dermatologists, Formel's strategy is aimed at out-classing non-personalised advice available online.

Such online material has exploded in popularity in recent years, growing alongside the general global market for skincare which grew from approximately $116 billion in 2016 to $148 billion in 2020 and estimated to be $190 billion by 2025. With this, it is likely that Formel will be seeing increasing competition in the coming years.

Following funding across multiple rounds, Formel is currently focused on expansion, looking to grow its customer base beyond its initial operating area in Germany and Switzerland. With a focus on European markets, Formel will be accessing a potential consumer base which is only getting bigger, giving it a real platform for success in the future.
