In the face of climate change and rapidly changing ecosystems, less economically developed countries are in need of more innovative solutions to sustain agricultural businesses and exports. FSID otherwise known as Food Systems Innovation & Delivery helps to discover new strategies in supply chain optimisation, pest and disease control and data generation.
Crops and pests reduce global agricultural yields by 20-40% whilst “informal” food systems in developing countries lack solid data. Between harvest and retail, 31% of goods are lost from these markets as well. FSID’s efficiency strategy for these markets involves spatial modelling frameworks to increase yield, data generation optimisation and software development for disease outbreak early warning systems.
Working with academics, researchers, and NGOs, FSID is a small company with the potential to make a big impact at critical stages of the agricultural pipeline. It’ll be interesting to see how its strategies evolve at a critical time for agricultural development.
