Farmstead's mission is to make fresh, high-quality food accessible to everyone at the most affordable prices.
11% employee growth in 12 months
In recent years there has been a huge increase in demand for grocery delivery from online orders. Major players in the market, such as Instacart, make purchases and deliveries from existing supermarkets, but this model puts a big constraint on the number of possible deliveries. Farmstead's approach is to sell groceries from its own warehouse and employ its own warehouse staff and drivers, using technology to “re-orchestrate” warehouse operations and make them more efficient.
Its technology, Grocery OS, is an exciting feature of Farmstead’s business: warehouse models are not only increasingly necessary, they additionally are far more cost-effective than, for example, supermarkets. Farmstead offers this technology stack to grocers wishing to improve operations and compete more effectively against dominant e-commerce players.
Farmstead stands out from other offerings by leveraging its technology as it enables the company to serve a 50-mile radius to maximize efficiency and reduce costs. As a result, Farmstead offers prices comparable to or lower than most supermarkets, but with free delivery to customers' doorsteps. The company is growing quickly, with plans to expand nationwide to a primarily suburban, mid-market audience.
