The UK rental sector is a huge, with aggregate annual rental costs paid by tenants increasing on a yearly basis from roughly £27 billion in 2000, to £86 billion in 2020. The cornerstone of the landlord-tenant relationship is ensuring that repair and maintenance issues are properly managed in homes and places of work. Not only is this good for landlords' profits and reputations, it is also part of their key legal duties.
Helping with this is Fixflo. Their product, a smart, web-based repairs and maintenance solution, makes keeping on top of works simpler for landlords. Solutions range from repair reporting by tenants to certification management for contractors, all of which are designed to make the process of repairs and maintenance much smoother for landlords.
Fixflo was used by over 4,000 lettings agents nationwide in 2021 and the company is looking to expand its potential market, with moves planned into international territories such as South Africa. Following its sale to German software giant Aareon, there is now even greater potential for expansion into other European markets.

Our company values are huge at Fixflo and instilled in every one of us! We have beautiful signs printed around the office with examples of how we demonstrate them. Unlike working in say finance or gambling or similar, working at Fixflo makes you feel like you're genuinely helping people. We've all gone through the turmoil of renting and its a product that improves the experience of tenants and helps them get their problems addressed quickly.

There is a great culture of learning and improving. The senior developers work closely with the team's newer members to mentor and equip them with the skills they need to be engineers. Processes like weekly lunch and learns and company provided Pluralsight also help a lot!

Before joining Fixflo, career progression was at the forefront of my mind. I was sure to question my interviewers about this and to my delight it was a must for them too! In my team, success is rewarded well and expectations are clear. I also love the thanks scheme where vouchers are awarded if you're helpful to others! People are supportive anyway, but this is an appreciated touch. Fixflo is easily the best company I have ever worked for as a software engineer. My colleagues are helpful and supportive, and the whole company is warm, energetic and friendly. The office is a comfortable and welcoming place to be, but home working is also an option. I truly feel valued and supported at Fixflo. The onboarding was well thought out and planned. My seniors never talk down to me, but treat me as an equal. We have regular social events that bring everyone together, which is also a perk.

I usually work at home and come into the office once a week, but I'd prefer if I could come in more regularly, as the office is always so comfortable and going there feels like a big embrace, due to the lovely people who work there. We have a hybrid work model, that allows each employee to go to the office (which is great, btw!) whenever they want. One day a week is mandatory, usually a team day, but you can work the rest of it at home. Also, some teams have adopted summer hours, which means you get out of the office earlier to get as much daylight as possible!
