To harness blockchain technology in innovative ways and create a multiplayer football management game where players own and manage a digital football club.
Whilst the new immersive technologies of gaming have created a more social experience, blockchain is blending the social aspect with the mechanics of economics, bringing a new sector to the market. Footium is a blockchain-built football management game that gives its customers the tools to mint and own their own clubs, scout and manage their players, and compete in multiplayer competitions. Its management and minting system utilises NFTs of players, ensuring that the gamer truly “owns” their team.
The authentically multiplayer experience of Footium’s game is its main draw, effectively creating a simulation of the club football ecosystem. Nice touches such as seeing retired players become coaches add a level of authenticity and returnability to the experience.
Unsurprisingly, Footium has attracted seed funding from a range of fintech investors due to its use of NFT technology. Whilst the idea of NFTs as a viable currency has somewhat diminished in recent months, tokens have been gifted new life by the gaming sector.
