Gated's mission is to make email better for users, helping them to reduce unwanted e-mails through its software tool whilst helping charities.
Having a seamless e-mail workflow is essential in boosting productivity for most jobs, but this is difficult when inboxes are full of unwanted e-mails. Whilst spam filters can be useful to detect some obvious unwanted e-mails, it is near impossible to catch them all and this ultimately leaves inboxes cluttered.
Gated provides an unwanted e-mail prevention tool, claiming to reduce inbox volumes by an average of 43% and thus increase productivity, focus, and responsiveness in users. Upon receiving an e-mail from a new contact, the tool requests a small charity donation from the sender for them to reach the recipient, helping to ensure that whoever is contacting them is worth their attention.
Gated will face a significant challenge from non-users who refuse to donate to charity in order to contact somebody, but the company has recognized that this will only encourage meaningful contact. The company claims that its tool will reduce the stress and distraction associated with receiving e-mails, increasing productivity in users whilst contributing to a charitable cause.
