To make plant-based cooking more accessible without costing the earth.
Veganism is going through a dramatic growth spurt in the UK, with some reports suggesting the vegan population to have soared well over a million. It’s meant a booming market for vegan food products, and that’s spilled over into home food deliveries, too. Grubby is getting in on the upswing, with its plant-based recipe kits.
Customers can sign up to Grubby’s no-contract subscription plan, picking between a number of 100% plant based recipe kits, with a clean carbon rating, that source produce from UK family-run farms. Packaging is 100% recyclable, and where possible deliveries are made on bike.
With veganism often overlapping with an interest in eco-friendly practices, Grubby is making a smart play here. The subscription meal kit market is flooded right now by, in the UK at least, players like Gousto, Hello Fresh, and Abel & Cole, all of whom offer vegan options, but none of which cater exclusively to vegan diets. Plus, none have taken the plunge to fully commit to the growing consumer demand for sustainable, eco-friendly operations. Business appears modest for now, but demand is growing. If Grubby can hold the course it could stand to win a neat slice of the market.
