Our take

In the entertainment industry, hiring to this day is preferentially done via personal connections and referrals - but this method of finding talent leaves little scope to diversify, and makes it hard for unknown creatives to break into the job market. HUSSLUP sets out to change this, with a talent finding app for the media and entertainment industries that connects creatives to each other, as well as to the companies and projects that need them.

HUSSLUP's platform connects 50 million creatives to their industry peers, and to its 20+ partner organizations, which include premiere production companies and studios such as Universal Pictures, Westbrook, and AGBO. Its easy-to-use app opens up entertainment opportunities to a wider range of people, with the company hoping it will allow diverse talent to "transform Hollywood's old clique with one click".

In line with the company's hopes to diversify the industry, it has made partnerships with Women in Film, NALIP, Outfest, and other DEI organizations. Funds secured by HUSSLUP will enable it to add more robust search and reporting features for production partners, increase marketing, scale beyond the beta stage, and hire additional talent to its core team.
