Company mission

Their goal is to build a global technology and consultancy business that helps infrastructure and transport operators, train manufacturers, and asset owners utilise data more efficiently to improve operational performance that ultimately benefits passengers.

Our take

The rail industry in the UK facilitates nearly 2 billion journeys every year. This colossal size makes innovation difficult. Even the most basic questions around train delays and seat availability are difficult to answer because of the archaic systems used.

Hack Partners was started to bring change to the rail industry. Their first initiative HackTrain focused on driving forward innovation within the rail industry through collaboration. During a 48-hour Hackathon, tech innovators, startups, government, asset managers and train operators would come together and solve some of the industry’s biggest problems.

Through HackTrain, Hack Partners has collaborated with some of the largest companies within the rail industry including Trainline, Eurostar, BAE Systems and IBM. Their work has helped put innovation on the agenda of every board meeting, with governments and industry investing more than ever before on new trains, technology, and ways of working. Their work has even been endorsed by the UK Department for Transport.
