HackerOne's mission is to empower the world to build a safer internet.
17% employee growth in 12 months
Computer hacking has been part of the digital world for decades. Companies need to stay on top of cyber security to avoid financial losses, uphold their reputation, and protect customers. But not all hackers have bad intentions: HackerOne is a security platform that connects businesses with penetration testers and cybersecurity researchers.
The company has developed a bug bounty program, partnering with ethical hackers who identify security flaws in their client's systems to win a bounty. Two of the co-founders, Jobert Abma and Michiel Prins, are both self-taught hackers, who moved on from teenage pranks to finding software vulnerabilities at their University. They soon realized they could monetize their skills, as organizations wanted flaws in their system’s exposed and fixed.
HackerOne's clients include big names such as Facebook, Google, and the US Department of Defense. As the speed of software development increases, so do vulnerabilities, and the company will always be under pressure to stay ahead of the game. By launching new initiatives, such as its 2022 project OpenASM, HackerOne should be able to stay at the front of the global bug bounty market that is expected to reach $5 billion by 2027.
