Our take

Healios is a digital healthcare company specialising in mental health and neurodevelopmental services. It aims to innovate in the healthcare industry by providing patients with a service that blends specialised technology with the expertise of clinicians, aiming to help patients not only gain a better understanding of their health condition and improve it, but also feel supported along the way.

The way that care is delivered to patients is outdated and inefficient. The company's purpose is to provide better care, faster and cheaper. It achieves this as its platform digitises the clinical pathway, enabling children, adults, and their family members to use clinical services at home. This also allows the company to create detailed reports about a patient's condition and KPIs for measuring condition improvements.

Launched in 2013, Healios has now worked with 65% of NHS Mental Health Trusts, with 70,000 specialized clinical sessions delivered, which is a high success rate for a startup considering how hard it is to get NHS approval.

Unlike some startups in the area of mental health, Healios is not a marketplace of advisers but is an end-to-end provider of these services, which means it already has a leg-up on its competitors in the market.

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion at Healios

Lauren Hall (Head of TA)

  • “Do the right thing” is one of our core Healios values. And building a diverse and inclusive workplace where everyone feels supported is absolutely the right thing to do. Whether we’re developing a new service line or enhancing one of our products, we need people with different skills, backgrounds, identities and perspectives to ensure our innovations will work for the children and young people we are here to serve. By embracing diversity, we can deliver better care experiences and outcomes, while tackling the inequalities in healthcare provision that exist today
  • We’re glad to accommodate candidates who need adjustments and we’re happy to make changes to our interview process. We encourage candidates to be open about the adjustments they need in the application form or throughout the process.
  • We offer extended time for interviews and take-home tasks. We also offer alternative assessments such as pair programming interviews rather than a take-home challenge for candidates who prefer a live environment or may not have time outside of work to complete a coding exercise.
  • We write job description requirements as minimally as possible to encourage candidates who may exclude themselves to apply.
  • We provide interview training including unconscious bias to minimise bias in the hiring process and to maximize data-driven hiring decisions.
  • We have a structured personal growth programme where all team members have quarterly development conversations and transparent career progression frameworks.
