High Mobility's mission is to globally advance car experiences through open data interfaces and immersive developer tools.
The internet of things is expanding to include vehicles, with the advent of more advanced in-car tracking features like eye movement sensors and fatigue monitoring. Whilst this rightly causes some privacy concerns, it also produces vast amounts of detailed data that can prove crucial in the development of further functionalities. High Mobility’s purpose is to make this data available for development and testing by third parties looking to innovate, all from a single marketplace and API.
With the majority of the world’s most valuable companies generating huge revenue from data-based services, it’s interesting that vehicular data is yet to take off in the same way. This may, however, be changing. The broader uptake of connected devices, rapid automotive upgrades, rising demand for in-car tech, and the onset of Logistics 4.0 all are contributing to the anticipated ballooning market value for the Internet of Vehicle. All of this will require data for development and deployment.
With concerns growing regarding the harvesting and use of personal data, High Mobility are astutely emphasising a driver-first, consent-heavy approach to data collection. This, along with an open-source and developer-friendly commitment, may help distinguish them from more corporate-oriented competitors Otonomo and Caruso.
