Many people are battling unhealthy habits. For those who are addicted to sugary drinks, unsweetened, flavored-water is a healthier compromise. Hint Water is a fruit-flavored water company founded in 2005 when Kara Goldin. Goldin, a former AOL executive, started to add fresh fruit to her water to kickstart a healthier lifestyle while making drinking water more fun.
The company, which is now valued at over $150 million, has a presence in over 30,000 stores, including Whole Foods and Target. It has built its brand around Goldin's personal story, successfully so, as it has remained resilient for almost two decades in a saturated market. It is also notable for being the unofficial drink of Silicon Valley, as it is served at Google, Facebook, Uber and Spotify.
Whenever there's a setback, the company finds a way to come out strong, such as its switch to e-commerce and direct to consumer model, which saw Hint increase revenues by almost 50%. Whilst Hint operates in a notoriously crowded beverage industry with huge competitors like Coca-Cola, Pepsi and Nestle, it has managed to secure its position as the fast-growing still flavored water.
