Our take

With more independent grocery stores embracing e-commerce as an additional sales channel, keeping an accurate track of their inventory can be problematic. Their point-of-sale system's do not perfectly sync with what goods are on the shelf. This results in items unknowingly going out of stock and the customer not receiving their full order.

Homesome is an e-commerce platform for grocery stores and supermarkets that aims to solve this problem. Instead of store owners resorting to spreadsheets to manage their stock levels, Homesome adds automation into their POS and updates when new products are added. The company claims its software calculates a store's inventory with up to 95% accuracy.

The company refers to themselves as the Shopify for grocery stores. As a white-label platform, food retailers of various sizes are able to customize their e-commerce service. The company is in a competitive space, Local Express, Mercato, My Cloud Grocer and Farmstead have similar offerings. Homesome's will be relying on the flexibility and integration of its software, as the pitch to encourage grocers to migrate to them.
