To improve trucking efficiency, sustainability, and safety by developing an AI driver assistance system.
With fuel averaging to cost logistics operators a third of their overheads, recent studies suggest that it is driver behaviour and efficiency that wastes petrol on the road. More pressure on operators and fleets to meet sustainability targets has unearthed another pressing problem in HGV operations - their responsible for 16% of transport emissions but only 5% of miles travelled. This is the main sustainability issue that Hypermile addresses with its driver assist technology.
An increasing number of AI companies focus on smart driver assist technology but whilst many address safety as their main motivation, Hypermile put fuel cost as their key focus. Hypermile’s pitched correctly, targeting a key problem in the UK transport industry to bridge the gap between logistics operation profitability and sustainability.
Alongside their camera-based hardware for logistics operators, Hypermile also sell their AI tech to vehicle manufacturers, embedding the Y-Combinator winner right at the start of the HGV supply line. With additional focus on electric vehicles, Hypermile has a promising future, having partnered with Innovate UK and the Office for Zero Emissions.
