Our take

Indiegogo is a crowdfunding website - which was one of the first sites of its kind. It enables users to solicit funds for an idea, charity, or start-up business, and it runs on a rewards-based system. This means that donors, investors, or customers that help fund a project will receive a gift, rather than an equity stake in the company.

With its most competitive rival, Kickstarter, experiencing some rather high profile problems in recent years, Indiegogo has taken the opportunity to further grow its presence in the space. The appointment of a new CEO in 2022 should allow the company to investigate further opportunities to add value to what is now a 15-year-old company.
