Our take
Despite significant progress towards gender equality in recent years, the UK tech industry continues to be male-dominated, with only 26% of the digital tech workforce in the country being made up of women. This lack of diversity not only represents a missed opportunity for companies to benefit from a wider range of skills and perspectives but it also limits opportunities for women to pursue fulfilling and rewarding careers in these sectors.
InnovateHer is a Liverpool-based social enterprise that aims to promote gender diversity in the tech sector. Through a range of innovative programs and services, InnovateHer allows women and girls to explore and develop their digital skills and entrepreneurship abilities, providing them with the necessary tools to thrive in the digital economy.
InnovateHer's unwavering dedication to promoting inclusivity and diversity is making a significant difference in bridging the gender gap in the tech sector and inspiring the next generation of female leaders. Having reached over 700,000 people and witnessing a 7% increase in the number of women in tech, InnovateHer's impact has been impressive. However, the company isn't content with these achievements and is ramping up its efforts to empower even more women to pursue careers in tech.
