Karhoo's mission is to address the challenge of improving mobility in urban centres while making transport safe, convenient and sustainable. To do this, they've built a fully-integrated neutral booking platform for regulated Taxis and Private Hire Vehicles, offering a real choice to travellers.
Urban areas have seen a huge increase in taxi service providers such as Uber and Lyft. Karhoo has created a ride-hailing marketplace that brings together regulated, licensed taxi and private hire vehicle fleets into one electronic platform.
By 2021, Karhoo had signed up 3000 fleets, available in 1500 cities in 125 countries. It has partnerships with SNCF (France), Thalys (Pan-European), Renfe (Spain), Trainline (UK) and Booking.com (global), among others, to provide its clients with door-to-door travel experiences.
Karhoo faces stiff competition from the likes of Uber. However, by aggregating independent transport providers Karhoo is aiming to harness an extensive but untapped part of the transport market. Furthermore, they're helping independent fleets and brands by ensuring their marketplace is open and fair.
In 2019, Karhoo won the European Startup Gold Prize for mobility, recognising their management successes, social impact and innovation. If Karhoo can maintain its momentum, it has the potential to continue shaping the mobility landscape across Europe and around the world.
