Karma is an app that connects restaurants, cafés and grocery stores with users eager to purchase unsold food at steep discounts, usually more than 50%.
Karma has had a high level of adoption in Sweden so far, with some 10% of the Swedish population using the app. Karma takes a 25% transaction fee, which has helped the company reach positive cashflow already in Sweden.
It's started to gain traction in the UK and France and the company wishes to expand across Europe first before tackling the US with their food wastage.
The company has set itself apart with a number of innovations, including developing communal fridges to save Karma users from needing to pickup their food directly from an outlet within a short time-frame.
