Our take

According to Keakie, Spotify and Apple Music are great apps when it comes to understanding users' tastes and recommending similar music. However, there is no lateral discovery for these users, as they are only exposed to music similar to their taste. Keakie is a streaming platform specially designed for mixes, podcasts and radio shows that aims to reinvent how users find new music by exposing them to totally new genres of music that they may like.

The company differentiates itself through its proprietary technology based on AI and machine learning that recommends the right new genre of music for each user based on his/her music history. According to the company (which was founded in May 2019), Keakie invested £150 in advertising and attracted over 400,000 listeners in just one month due to its sophisticated data analytics.

The main challenge of the company is improving its technology in order to be able to process data from more users, which will become pivotal to its success as the customer base increases in time.
