Although developer tools offer a vast range of possibilities, it is still difficult for businesses to build quality software. Doing so requires high level of commitment and complex engineering work that can often be time-consuming and costly.
By providing the majority of the code and offering simple solutions, Keel aims to tackle this problem for businesses to create an easier, more streamlined process.
The company are well funded and backed by some of Europe’s best seed-stage VC’s. They are also led by experienced founders who have already worked together in building Europe’s fastest growing online pharmacy. The company are now focused on attracting talent and building their product.

We're trying to do something that's fundamentally new which is satisfying and exciting. It has the potential to disrupt the low-code tooling landscape. The mission is more than just tech and money. It's ethical - see values.

Frankly, I thought the claimed values were too good to be true. And I had become thoroughly skeptical of such things. But they come from the top. They live. They ARE our governance system. And it makes for incredibly fruitful, joyful and confident work.

We're creating software tooling and a platform to automate back end design, creation, and cloud deployment. And to make that process available to a wider audience. The conceptual design takes work to get on top of because it is original and initially seems like magic. As a dev I usually hate magic! But this is benevolent magic that makes a huge amount of sense.

The team is filled with kind and understanding people. Even in the frustrating moments that naturally occur when one is working, the team doesn't lose grace towards one another.

There are regular check-ins with everyone to make sure people feel supported. There's also a lot of psychological safety and even space to discuss mental health.

The product has quite a few moving parts, all of them requiring depth of work to get right. From language design to on-demand infrastructure, there's a lot of topics to deep dive into, which we can't overlook when we're building a product where we believe details matter.

I feel genuinely trusted to own my work and make decisions. I can set my own priorities, decide how I work, and my manager supports and challenges me whilst trusting my judgement. I feel like a true partner to the people I work with.

We have genuine flexibility in terms of the hours we work, and how we organise our time. Being fully remote, it's possible to work from different locations when I need to, and I'm trusted to manage my work effectively. We also have great flexibility around benefits like caregiver leave and time off, so people don't have to compromise on the important things in life.

Keel has had values since the company was founded and before anyone was hired into the team. This is what first attracted me to Keel and they're something we talk about regularly. We recently did a values refresh where we discussed them as a team and updated them based on team feedback, so it's clearer what they mean (and don't mean).
