Kingfisher is a multinational retail company that offers home improvement products and services to consumers mainly located in the UK and Europe. The company has a presence in numerous countries across Europe and it currently operates more than a thousand stores.
Kingfisher completed a series of acquisitions in recent years to expand their market reach by buying companies such as NeedHelp and Praktiker Romania, to position alongside it's existing brands which include B&Q, Castorama, Brico Depot, Screwfix, TradePoint and Koçtaş. By moving into the e-commerce space, Kingfisher aims to avoid disruption from smaller retailers and maintain it's position as the leading home improvement retailer.
The main challenge faced by the business is finding ways to increase sales in the markets it is currently operating and also retaining its current clients. Kingfisher aims to do that by investing in building user-friendly e-commerce platforms for its brands, developing mobile-first purchasing experiences and investing in digital marketing in order to sell more and rapidly reduce their inventory and costs.
