To create a society in which kinship carers and the children they care for are recognised, valued and supported.
In the UK, there are more than 180,000 children in kinship care - where they are being raised by family other than their parents. Kinship is a charity dedicated to supporting kinship carers across England and Wales, offering a wide range of assistance including financial, legal and emotional support.
What sets Kinship apart is its holistic approach, not just offering immediate aid but also fostering a sense of community among carers and advocating for systemic changes to ensure kinship families receive recognition and support. It recently secured a £3 million contract from the Department for Education to develop a training and support program for kinship carers, indicating its growing influence in the space.
With plans to increase its staff and collaborate with various organisations, Kinship primary aim for now is to reach more carers. Additionally, its partnership with influential figures like Davina McCall will help amplify its message and draw attention to the challenges faced by kinship families
