To reduce the climate impact from food by helping restaurants and foodservice providers to calculate, communicate and report the carbon footprint per dish.
According to reports, roughly a third of global greenhouse gas emissions comes from the food system, making it one of the largest contributors to climate change. Klimato is here to help change that by supplying tools for restaurants and other food service providers to monitor and reduce their emissions.
With Klimato, chefs and restaurant owners can gain an accurate image of the carbon emissions they generate through their choice of menu and suppliers, allowing them to make changes with measurable impact. On top of this, Klimato also allows restaurants to assign climate labels to their menus, so that customers can opt for more eco-friendly dishes if they wish.
Although climate change is today's hot-topic, restaurants remain relatively underserved - especially the smaller ones - meaning Klimato has uncovered quite the niche target. The company is well-funded, with its latest round cited to support further development and accelerated growth as it moves to strengthen its position in the market.

Important, meaningful work can sometimes mean false urgency and stress. Not so at Klimato where the working culture matches the sustainability of the Company's mission.

The team at Klimato is ambitious, talented and kind, all while somehow remaining humble and attentive to learning from new experiences and points of view. I cannot stress enough how rare this is.

People of all backgrounds are welcomed

I've been at Klimato for a little over 3 months, and my first impression when I joined was "these people are so nice!". They all care about the environment, and everyday I learn something new about sustainability. There are people with all sorts of backgrounds, interests, and personalities. I always look forward to share lunch with everyone, just to hear about their latest mushroom picking haul, culinary achievements, or geeky pastimes.

I believe there are some people that are just born to lead a team. Skills can be learned, but character is something that is built throughout a lifetime. I consider myself extremely lucky to have such a supportive and capable manager. She's one of the people that I would consider "born to lead". She's organised, kind and supportive across all the different disciplines that fall under the umbrella of "Product". We have a "walk and talk" twice a month, where she asks me about my work, anything that I would need support with, and life. This is something that ties with my previous comment of people at Klimato being extremely nice, everyone is very professional but also "human". I've learned so much in such a short amount of time, thanks to the support I've received from my manager, but also from my team.

Supportive management

My experience in the industry is still limited, but I take every day as a learning opportunity. I come from a qualitative research background, but as a User Researcher I know that quantitative data holds knowledge that would otherwise be unobtainable with qualitative methods like interviews and contextual inquiries. I knew that for my very first project I would need both types of data, the question was "how". It was overwhelming at first, but my team supported me all the way through my final report. I made mistakes along the way, but I learned so much. A project starts off as a list of requirements and expected value, but when it comes to research, I've been given a lot of freedom as to how to plan various data gathering and analysis activities (of course, as long as they are the best for the specific inquires we have). I would like my path to be one of a mixed-method researcher, and so far I've been able to pursue it at Klimato, with the help and guidance of my manager and my Design Lead. Interfacing myself with such a big team is also a great learning experience. It's easier to be unstructured in a small company, but Klimato is growing every year, and the team is expanding in multiple locations. Communication and a structured exchange of knowledge, become a necessity, so I'm learning way more than just research-related skills.
