Our take

The global market for sneakers is estimated to be valued at $80 billion. This has has created a huge resale market as private individuals sell rare sneakers or resell shoes they've bought in bulk, but along with this comes a vast amount of fraud, with a wave of counterfeits swamping the legitimate market.

Laced is a sneaker resale marketplace which allows private sellers to list shoes for sale, inspects them for authenticity and sends them on to the buyer, taking a cut of the sale as a fee. While it is not the only company of its type, with StockX and Goat making strong headway in American markets, it stands aside with its focus on the UK market. Consequently, it has quickly grown in size and established a strong customer base.

Building on its success, Laced has recently closed a Series A funding round. It will use this capital to further invest in research and development and in building out its marketplace infrastructure. With the sneaker market continually increasing in value, Laced is well poised for future growth.
