The UK sportswear market is continuing to see huge growth, with consumers increasingly focusing on leisure, wellness and the desire to wear sportswear as casualwear. Nevertheless, this industry is catering primarily to men and athletic, young women with performance-first designs and values. Lagatta was founded in 2019 to disrupt the activewear industry, which had led many women to believe they weren't made for activewear, by providing clothes with both support and coverage for woman over 40.
Lagatta is also one of many savvy new sustainable labels offering an alternative to traditional activewear, made using non-biodegradable synthetic fabrics that are energy-intensive to produce. Garments are made with Italian fabrics which use over 70 per cent of recycled yarn from abandoned fishing nets. Each item features built-in ShapeTech and is UV protective, moisture-wicking and breathable.
As countries around the world continue to seek the precarious balance between opening up economies and keeping their citizens healthy, Lagatta is one of the brands rethinking the social experiences that we are used to. Since recent years have seen increased demand for casualwear and the forecast is that the sportswear sector will outperform all other major retail sectors, Lagatta is positioned well to grow within the market.
