Our take

Learning to code is one of the most powerful ways for students to future-proof their careers in the rapidly evolving 21st century global economy. However, it remains an often daunting and confusing task, with many unsure where to begin, particularly when faced with digital learning without in-person access.

Le Wagon is solving this problem with its coding school, offering both full and part-time bootcamps, in order to appeal to as many customers as possible. By so doing, it immerses users in code, challenging the business model of its more remote competitors, such as Codecademy. Le Wagon's success is clear; it now operates in 27 countries with 43 campuses.

Founded in France, the company raised its first round of funding in 2019, after many years of bootstrapping, and has since grown significantly; Le Wagon's most recent expansion has been to open a coding bootcamp in Cape Town, where users there will be able to benefit from its services. Operating within a market expected to reach $418M by 2030, the company is poised well for future success.
