To revolutionise the daily commute.
-6% employee growth in 12 months
After leaving Amsterdam for Melbourne, Meindert Wofraad was unable to find a suitable bike for daily use, so decided to bring one over to Australia. After shipping over a container full of Dutch bikes, LEKKER Bikes was born. The company’s flagship store in Melbourne was opened in 2014. Today, LEKKER sells bikes worldwide.
Indeed, an average person’s carbon emissions from transportation are reduced by around 67% when choosing to commute with an eBike over a car. This mission to turn cycling into the main form of transportation in everyday life, given the physical and environmental benefits, slightly predated the boom in sustainable travel, and therefore has been thriving as an already established, global company.
The company continues to build out its eCommerce platform and bring in more customers. One recent partnership with JobRad - an (e)bike leasing company - enables German professionals to save up to 40% off a LEKKER eBike by leasing it via JobRad through their employer due to a new tax-subsidised leasing program. We can expect to see many more similar partnerships moving forward.
