Our take

The Long-Term Stock Exchange (LTSE) is creating an SEC-regulated national securities exchange seeking to end the twenty year decline in the number of public companies in the United States.

Unlike public stock markets LTSE is impervious to conventional exchange incentives that benefit from volatility and speculation. Their focus is on connecting companies and investors that focus on longevity, innovation and company growth. They hope to attract the guarded world of privately owned tech giants who are wary of going public and want more control over their listing.

Going up against Wall Street legacy megaliths like Nasdaq-Amex Market Group and the New York Stock Exchange with daily trading values exceeding $200bn, LTSE is aiming to disrupt the fiercely capitalistic growth model that has dominated the public company investment sphere. Banking on a new wave of investors, and backed by top Silicon Valley figures such as venture capitalist Marc Andreessen and LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman, the LTSE is attracting those who are more interested in long term goals and values rather than short term public stock markets.
