Loopie's mission is to empower lives and improve the world through laundry.
Loopie Laundry is a laundry pickup/dropoff service - so far, so familiar. The selling point here, however, is that the company has built a tech-driven peer-to-peer marketplace facilitating the creation of gig economy laundry workers. Laundry is delivered to the houses of people who can use their own machines to turn a modest profit, and return it to customers within 24 hours.
Loopie Laundry is applying the tried-and-tested model that’s brought companies like Uber and Deliveroo such success: consumers enjoy cheaper, faster, home-delivered services. Moreover, the mass pivot towards working from home and the recent period of closure for brick-and-mortar laundry locations will have boosted both customer engagement and the gig worker supply. This gave Loopie a strong head start in the post-pandemic economy.
Loopie will have to avoid the fate of previous gig economy laundry services like Washio, who folded for the same labor condition issues stalking larger platforms like Deliveroo. Moreover, and more urgently, it will have to contend with direct competitor SudShare, who for now seems better funded and with a larger national footprint.
