Our take

LoveShark is driven by the belief that games should be for everyone, not just hardcore gamers, and looks to redefine the outdated stereotype of a 'gamer'. The camera games approach aims to appeal to Gen Z players like TikTok users, mobile game players, and K-Pop fans. LoveShark offers users an exciting range of camera games using augmented reality to help young people connect with each other. Its approach is in-between Wii Sports and Heads Up.

While working at augmented reality company Blippar, Sam and Tara realised that there were huge opportunities for computer vision and augmented reality technologies to create the new paradigm of mobile games. LoveShark was founded to exploit this gap in the market.

LoveShark's gaming community, Mochi, enables users to play in the camera, create videos, and share with its community. As well as developing great new games, LoveShark also aims to continue its growth, particularly through building communities of fans on Instagram, TikTok, and Discord.

Leadership

Tara gained experience in startups before taking an MBA at London Business School and working at Blippar for two years. In June 2018, she co-founded LoveShark.

After a degree at the University of Manchester, Sam worked as a Developer at Studio View Design and Blippar. in July 2018, he left his role as Senior AR Developer to co-found LoveShark.
