MUBI's mission is to provide its viewers with critically acclaimed cinema rarely available in other platforms. To do so, they have assembled an ever-changing, limited collection of hand-picked films.
25% employee growth in 12 months
Streaming has revolutionised the way we consume content. In 2018, the number of streaming subscribers around the world overtook the number of cable subscribers for the first time in history.
While MUBI works in the same world as Netflix and Amazon, they are a much smaller company with a unique business model. They target subscribers searching for thought-provoking, independent contemporary and classic cinema.
The company's focus on quality rather than quantity has further differentiated its from its competitors, as has its move into distribution and production. MUBI has steadily grown its influence at festivals such as Cannes and Sundance, building an impressive repuitation and roster of films.
The streaming market is incredibly saturated, and market leader Netflix is facing cuts and plummeting share prices. MUBI, however, is still seeing consistent growth, and could stand to gain significantly from shifts in the market.
