Our take
Marry Blockchain and MMO (massively multiplayer online game) and you get Material10. Founded in 2022 Material10 is a start-up founded by Maitham Mohamed and Lars Buttler. Maitham’s previous experience is in DeFi whilst Lars Buttler has participated in the production of some of the largest games in the world having founded Trion Worlds. So going up against the big dogs in gaming publishing like Sony Interactive Entertainment, Tencent Games and Nintendo seems more approachable knowing the kind of experience Material10 has behind it.
The mission of the company is to involve blockchain to create open economy gaming where users feel true ownership within their gaming experience, though the company suggests the blockchain aspect might go unnoticed on the outside but creates a refined security in the background.
Initial funding is going to be used to launch Material10’s MMO 3PS game with unique RTS mechanics in Unreal Engine 5. The company really is looking to revolutionise the gaming experience with next-gen tech and years of skill and experience. We’ll wait with open eyes and ears to the success of its founding game.
