Search engines have formed the core of digital navigation since the birth of the internet, but despite this, search engines still show room for improvement. Integrating fast, customizable and intelligent search engines often require a lot of configuration and coding, a time-consuming and resource-heavy process.
Meilisearch develops an API for the easy implementation of an open-source search engine, focussing on being fast, customizable and aware of typos, without requiring coding or configuration. Through its API, the search engine facilitates the free application of filters, real-time results, geotagging, language detection, and permissions management, whilst also providing a faster cloud-based alternative that is currently in beta mode.
Internal search engines are nothing new, but Meilisearch’s open-source API approach facilitates complex and next-gen searches that would usually only be possible to businesses with vast resources. Through these innovations, the company claims that its search engine helps users find exactly what they are looking for, without the risk of missing the information due to inadequate search functions. 2022 funding was channeled towards developing the Meilisearch Cloud and its open-source software.
