To make coding accessible to as many people as possible.
In the age of computing, coding has become a fundamental skill for many job roles. However, there is a deficit in this skill across the workforce, and it can be difficult for many beginners to know where to start. Mimo’s mobile app breaks down learning coding into small, manageable chunks, that are delivered via micro-lessons that can be completed anywhere and on-the-go.
The team behind Mimo previously build the app Swiftly in the same space, which achieved enough success to prove to them there was want for a mobile code-training app. The Mimo app offers courses in several coding languages, and stands out for its simple design and succinct explanations. Lessons are hands-on, interactive, and the experience is gamified for engagement, but not overwhelming due to the pocket-sized nature of the lessons.
Mimo’s app has generated good levels of interest, and the company has seen promising investment. Current focus appears to be on developing an online offering of Mimo’s courses, as well as expanding Mimo Dev, a bootcamp designed to act as a follow-up for the app to further enhance users’ coding skills.
