Mint Songs' mission is to explore platforms in web3 and Music NFT space.
The rise of NFTs has opened up new monetization avenues across the digital content space, and could prove especially useful in the music industry. The dominance of streaming giants has meant artists are making relatively little in streaming royalties, and losing ownership over their audiences. The idea is that combining music with NFTs will help these artists win back control.
Mint Songs is one of the music NFT marketplaces looking to lead the charge. Through the platform artists can mint, sell, and trade NFTs of their music for free, whilst their fans can gain full ownership of a copy of the song and support the artist in the process.
This fairly simple offering may need embellishment, however, in a space that’s getting more competitively complex. Rivals OneOf and Soundmint are both allowing artists to bundle up additional perks and access benefits into music NFT sales, for example. This is likely to help generate a marketplace that is sufficiently distinct from and richer than existing music sales platforms to justify the steeper cost of NFTs. If Mint Songs is shooting to be a part of the ecosystem, the company may need to get richer with its offering.
