Our take

The continued growth of the gaming industry has made room for more companies to develop their own titles, and to contribute to the array of games on the market. Mountaintop Studios aims to make games which reward players for their time, foster community, and provide a challenge for those who crave it.

Mountaintop was founded in 2020 by a team with an impressive resume across the gaming industry. The company have stated an ambition to set themselves apart by avoiding the toxicity which historically plagues gaming companies and communities. For now, with the company in relative infancy, this is certainly an admirable goal, but it remains to be seen how well Mountaintop executes on this.

Within a year after founding, Mountaintop raised an impressive $30 million in funding. Much of this will be used to accelerate development of its first title, cited to be a PvP shooter, which should start to show what we can expect from Mountaintop going forward.
