Our take

Reconciling travel booking with environmental impact reduction is no mean feat, but Much Better Adventures does just that by cutting out the middle man in travel agency bookings. The company operates as a marketplace and travel agency that works directly with local organisations to build adventure travel experiences for customers.

With a presence on every continent, Much Better Adventures claims that $76 of every $100 spent on its platform goes back into the local economy of the travel destination. This is an unprecedented boon for the tourism ecosystem, which, according to the United Nations Environmental Programme, usually sees as little as $5 going back into local economies.

The activities available on Much Better Adventures have grown exponentially over the last decade, as have its local guides and teams affiliated with the company. Bouncing back impressively after the COVID pandemic, the company continues to expand its range of sustainable travel offerings.
