Our take

Meditation and sleep have becoming billion-dollar industries as more people look for technology that can help them relax, recover, and improve mental performance. InteraXon, the company behind Muse brain-sensing headbands, operates in the neurotechnology space with wearable devices that measure brain activity using EEG sensors. Its products combine hardware, mobile apps, and cloud-based data analysis, and the company has built one of the largest real-world datasets of brain activity from millions of user sessions.

Originally known for meditation feedback, and sleep tracking, Muse has expanded into tools that actively help improve sleep. Its latest device, Muse S Athena, measures brain activity overnight and uses AI models trained on large amounts of EEG data to detect different sleep stages. New features such as Deep Sleep Boost deliver quiet sound cues timed to the brain's natural rhythms to help strengthen deep sleep - the stage most important for recovery, memory, and long-term brain health.

Muse is increasingly focused on turning brain data into practical guidance and interventions. Features like AI sleep coaching and brain-aware alarms aim to help users fall asleep faster, sleep more deeply, and wake at the right moment from their sleep cycle. Beyond consumers, the platform is also used by researchers and clinicians studying sleep, mental health, and cognitive performance, with the goal of making brain health tools available outside of traditional sleep labs.
