Our take

NURVV was founded in 2015 and launched in 2019. Founders Jason and Ulrica Roberts had been working on technology to measure impact on phone cases for their business tech21, when they saw the opportunity to transfer this idea to wearables.

The sensor they developed was new to the market, and measures running data from the most logical body point - the feet, as opposed to pre-existing tech such as Fitbit, that are worn on the wrist.

NURVV Run has plenty of competitors in the running-analysis gadgets field, including Fitbits, Garmins, Apple Watches. Unlike the standard gadgets, the downside of NURVV Run is that customers have to learn how to install it, insert it correctly into the shoes, allow for glitches and, finally, understand, appreciate – and act on – the large amount of data it provides.

The insoles are expensive, but they're built for longevity. With the option to last about 1,500 miles until they need replacing – and the trackers will continue to work with the replacements. With over £6m in funding and with a background in tech development, NURVV has plenty of capacity to build out their functionality as they grow in the market.
